Chapter 24
Nick was flailing on the floor in the middle of the room with Lana by his side, balling her eyes out. Catelyn tried to get closer to him, but every time she looked at the blood on his body slowly forming a pool on the floor, her knees got weak and she collapsed backwards again into Joe’s waiting arms.
“SHIT!! GET THIS ING THING OUT OF ME!!” Nick screamed again as he grabbed the knife with his hands and tried to pull it out. It didn’t move, but he screamed even louder as it tore down deeper into his leg. “FUCK!” he screamed again. Catelyn was frozen in place. She couldn’t bare to look at him, she hated the site of blood. She had taken emergency medical treatment course last year and she knew what to do, but she couldn’t will herself to do it! She took a step forward again, and she felt Joe’s hands on her back, ready to catch her incase she fell again. “Im fine, Joe.” She said under her breath as she tried to breath in through her mouth so the scent of Nick’s blood wouldn’t get in her nose. She walked forward slowly and fell to her knees next to Lana.
Lana was crying and was covered in blood also. it wasn’t until she got closer to her that catelyn realized Lana was bleeding too. Her chest had a huge cut going down it and her arm did too. They were minor cuts, but they still were bleeding heavily. Catelyn closed her eyes and took a deep breath through her mouth again. “Lana, please don’t watch this.” She whispered to Lana as she got up and moved closer to Nick. Lana was confused, but she got up and moved backwards next to Joe who saw her arm and let out a gasp before they both grew silent and watched Catelyn intently. Everyone in the room was silent except for Nick who was screaming at the top of his lungs in pain. “I need a towel and a bottle of alcohol!” Catelyn said as strongly as she could, but her voice cracked. She turned back to Nick and sat down on her knees over his body, gently examinng is body in case of any other injuries. Minor scrapes and bruises, but not as bad as his leg. “what are you doing?AHHHH!” Nick asked and then screamed as he tried to put weight on his leg before falling back down. “Just trust me.” she said softly, and he grew quiet for a second.
Someone came forward with the items Catelyn had asked for and she took them quickly. She took one of the towels and wrapped her hand in it. “Nick, squeeze my hand as hard as you can when i say to ok?” he nodded, and she looked toward Joe. “I need you.” She said so softly she didn’t think he heard it, but he was by her side in a flash, his eyes glistening with fresh tears he refused to let fall. She took off her shirt, revealing a white tank top underneath, and Joe’s eyes widened. He quickly snapped out of it when Nick screamed again. Joe couldn’t tell if it was a moan of pain from the knife, or pleasure from the site of Catelyn with no shirt on, but he didn’t care. He watched as Catelyn placed the shirt in his hands and rolled it into a cylinder shape. She placed his hands in front of Nick’s mouth and told him to stay there. “Nick, when I say to, bite down on that as hard as you can.” She told Nick. He nodded again, still confused as to what she was going to do. She took the hand that had the towel on it and grabbed the knife with a firm grip as Nick winced in pain. “Ok, Nick, bite down on the towel and squeeze my hand as soon as you feel something.” He nodded again, but was still very confused. A second later, he felt a sharp pain run through his leg and up his body, worse then the pain that was already there. he didn’t look back, but he grabbed her hand and squeezed it as hard as he could. “HOLY ! AHHHHH! STOP!” he screamed as he bit down on the shirt as hard as he could. he squinted through his tightly closed eyes at Joe, and gasped at the look of pain and astonishment Joe was wearing.
Joe was staring at Catelyn, his face full of shock as to what she was doing that was causng Nick to scream like that. He stared as Catelyn grabbed the knife and firmly with all her might started to twist it in a clockwise circle as she slowly pulled it up. With every twist, Nick screamed louder and squeezed her hand tighter. She couldn’t feel her fingers and her nose was full of the smell of his blood. Her undershirt was splattered with droplets of blood as she pulled the knife upward. One more twist, and she pulled the knife with all her might, it came out with one last scream from Nick. He held her hand tightly, and the grip started to loosen slowly. He was breathing heavily, and his head was nestled into Joe’s side. Catelyn dropped the knife and it clattered to the ground. She grabbed the second towel, doused it in the alcohol, and quickly placed it firmly on the gaping whole the knife had left in his leg. He screamed again as the alcohol stung and burned through his leg. “SHIT!” She held him down, all 3 of them breathing heavily as the room stayed cold and frozen around them.
