My daughter has chronic bad breath. We brush her teeth twice per day but it doesnt seem help. It's noticable at all times when she sits on my lap. Her teeth are clean. No cavities (per dentist visit 5 months ago). It doesn't smell like decaying teeth, it just smells unfresh….can anyone provide some guidance or advice?

Tonsils. Have her tonsils removed and the smell will go away. Little bits of food and mucus and junk get stuck in the tonsils, which causes the bad odor.

Maybe it's something in the stomach. Check out a stomach doctor.

It could be halitosis (SP). not sure, if your dentist doesn't know, get a new one. If its an oral hygeine problem, SOME dentist out there knows.

You could take her to the doctor and they could recommend some products for her to use. Doctors are very helpful and know all the best products on the market.
Also, in the meantime, what about mouthwash? Or having a mint every hour or so? Good luck.

You may want your daughter to floss and brush her tongue see if that helps and to introduce her to mouth wash mixed with a tid bit of water, just so that the mouth wash be not too strong. And that dose not help out then perhaps a visit to the Dentist.

Sinus problems or I know in baby's an upset stomach can be a source. I would take her to an ear, nose, and throat specialist, you may need a referral from her MD. for insurance purposes.

Check for sinus or ear infections. Really. That is one of the symptoms for telling when my kid had an ear infection. He rarely had other symptoms.

I would take her to the doctor. It is possible there is a medical condition involved. While bad breath is usually caused by dental issues, since you have been to the dentist that seems unlikely. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chronic_halitosis

It can be her tonsils, does she have any other symptoms other than bad breath? you can also ask the dentist for medicated mouth wash or have her rinse with warm water and salt.

Bad breath for no apparent reason can be a sign of a health problem. Tonsils seem a reasonable guess, but it could be something else. She should see a doctor to see what the cause is.

How long has it been since you noticed the bad breath? I ask because toddlers are known for sticking things up their nose which can cause bad breath if the item becomes lodged and bacteria begins to form …I know it sounds weird, but its true. If you find that's not the problem, she may have excessive yeast growing in her stomach and/or intestines, you can try acidophilus which you can buy at a health food store and its great for women to take who are on the pill or have recurring yeast infections.
