The battle itself is not that hard, especially thanks to our awesome new puppy powers. The main problem is that, according to the LLG FAQ, Katt is the one who is supposed to survive.

We’ve had Katt as a survivor during most of the previous battles and many of you probably think that at level 10 (where she got after receiving most of the experience) she shouldn’t have any trouble soloing through bosses.

Well, this boss was ish and required more resets than anything in this challenge. First of all, Nimufu knows Cure and is able to heal herself for 40 HP any turn. There’s no AI to make her use Cure at a specific point actually: she uses randomly and I’ve seen her use it on the very first turn (before being hurt :o ).

Katt’s damage potential is, unfortunately, awful. She does 10-15 damage a hit and she has to use Herbs on herself a lot when soloing.

Therefore, before Katt is alone Nimufu must have so few hit points that Katt can finish her off in ONE single hit AND we should get lucky with Nimufu NOT using Cure during that turn.

She’s got 550 HP and we can take off 512 of that by summoning two puppies with Ryu. The beginning strategy is therefore very straightforward: Ryu summons puppies, Sten makes sure Ryu is not going to die by the MP restorative item about to get thrown his way by Rand (who has the lowest speed and thus goes after Ryu); Katt defends. The next turn Ryu pulls off another puppy (doesn’t matter which) and everyone else should worry about getting themselves killed. The longer this phase continues the more chances we’ve got to see that annoying Cure spell.

In this battle, the scenario was a bit surprising. She used Thunder in both cases and this had two sides. First of all, everybody but Ryu and Katt died off very quickly. On the other hand, I had to have Katt use a precious Van Ext to make sure Ryu is able to help her with dealing damage.

The last phase required a lot of luck, because many things could’ve gone wrong. Either of the two could use a counterattack (ruining the scenario of Katt being the sole survivor) and kill her, Nimufu could use Sweet Breath to put everyone to sleep for a possible quick game over and she could start using Cure to make this a long, annoying battle.

But I was lucky, which was a good thing, especially after dozens of tries.

    Being slightly …
Being slightly underleveled always works if you want to have a bit fun (that was always my way of playing SNES FFs, for instance). If you’re avoiding enemy encounters altogether, then it’s a better idea to follow a FAQ.

LLG challenges are not just games where you avoid experience and do your best at kicking bosses’ bums. A lot of preparation is required, often you have to farm.

I’m level 11-15, at Simafort, I don’t know if I should level or do the dungeon, because I want it to be a slightly LLG.

    The difference in …
The difference in level is not that dramatic at this point actually. My current party average is level 7 or 8 or so, whereas most people reach this point in the game at about level 15-18.

The best part will be fighting the final bosses at levels 12-13 when most people do with at a party average over 50 (sometimes way over 50).

well it really isn’t so easy since ur fleeing from every random encounter so that her lvl is probly half of wat it should be and the rest of the party probly a third
