How can you get rid of post nasal drip that is causing bad breath? Natural remedies preferred!?

I got a cold from a water park this August and ever since, I've had post nasal drip giving me very bad breath. Are there any things I can do to clear this up naturally? Will snorting saline solution do anything? Gargling with peroxide?
I have a tongue scraper and use it. It's post nasal drip…my nose hasn't fully cleared since I took the wave pool wave into my sinuses.

I can relate. I have had a cold that has gotten in the sinuses and is just hanging on.
I use the oceans spray when my nose gets dry. I dont think it will work for post nasel drip. I sent you a link to a page that has some recipes for natural sinus remedies.

You should take your dog to the vet just to make sure that his teeth are not bad. There is a lot of problems that can come from bad teeth. I don't want to scare you, but your dog needs to get his teeth taken care of if they are bad and it is very important that you do it right away. Bad breath is a sign of bad teeth and a vet will tell you if that is the problem or not.

The first step is to identify the problem. After you figure out what's causing the bad breath, then you can find a solution.

Take a look at this site for some common sources of bad breath:

There are also "remedies" to "cure" oral bacteria.

Some causes:
1. If you eat food that causes bad breath (e.g. garlic)
The solution is to eat less of that sort of food.
2. Smoking (because of the tar and other smelly things)
The solution is to stop smoking.
3. If you have dry mouth (this is normal unless you have it all the time)

You get the idea. Take a look at the site and see if any of those conditions fit your situation.

To combat some of those conditions, you can try chewing gum with Xylitol. It's supposed to reduce tooth decay (and I read somewhere that it can recalcify cavities. I'm not sure how much you would have to chew to attain this though.) and is approved in the United States as a food additive so it should be safe in small amounts. Take a look at: http://www.xylitol.org for more information. It's in some Trident gum (there should be a label specifiying this) and is available in several flavours. This will help with cavities (that's another source of bad breath) and it will help you produce saliva (helps with the dry mouth). It's something I've tried before and it's tasty.

Give it a try and see if it helps. If oral hygiene is an issue, that first site had great tips. There are guides for brushing, flossing, cleaning and scraping your tongue, and rinsing effectively.

If none of this helps, perhaps schedule an appointment with your dentist and discuss your problems with him or her.

You should say something. Just tell the friend, "dude you really should go to the dentist and have them check for the root of your halitosis problem." It could be gum disease. That isn't something to mess around with. It can lead to serious health problems. Tell them you are concerned about their health.
